Welcome to the website of the Tiverton and Honiton Liberal Democrats. Our party is dedicated to representing this community - we want to see as many decisions as possible made locally, by local people.

We have now selected our parliamentary candidate to fight the general election - he is local man Dr Jon Underwood. As in the past the election will be a straight fight between ourselves and the Conservatives - Labour didn't even bother to field more than a handful of candidates for last year's local elections! We have a clear vision for Britain, based on the core values of FREEDOM, FAIRNESS and TRUST. Here are ten reasons to vote Liberal Democrat:

1. Put patients first - free doctors and nurses from Whitehall meddling.

2. Free personal care when you need it - no one forced to sell their home to pay for care.

3. No tuition fees, no top up fees - university affordable for every student.

4. More investment in children's early years - spend the £1 billion Child Trust Fund money when it matters most.

5. 10,000 more police on the streets - cutting crime and the fear of crime.

6. £25 more on the pension every week at 75 - a million pensioners off means-testing.

7. Free off-peak local transport - for all pensioners and disabled people.

8. Axe the Council Tax - Local Income Tax is both fair and affordable.

9. We should not have gone to war in Iraq - it's time to restore trust in Government.

10. Take the environment seriously - cut pollution, cut congestion and boost renewable energy.
